産学(官)連携による新しい価値の創造や、大学発ベンチャー等は注目を集め始めて久しいです。私も少し関わっているので、これを機にケンブリッジにおける産学連携事情に触れておきたいと思います。ケンブリッジ大学の学部の近くに、スピンアウトやベンチャー企業のオフィスが設置されています。半ば大学の施設とベンチャー企業施設の区別がなくなってきています。
ケンブリッジサイエンスパーク
Cambridge Science Park – Cambridge Science Park
ハイテク企業が多々集まっている地域です。説明によるとヨーロッパ最大のようです。
ケンブリッジアントレプレナー
大学のアントレプレナーセンター。
Cambridge University Entrepreneurs (CUE) run one of the most successful business creation competitions in the world. Since 1999 CUE has evolved to being a key part of the University’s ecosystem for supporting and accelerating entrepreneurship and innovation.
ケンブリッジエンタープライズ
Cambridge Enterprise Limited was formed on 1st December 2006 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Cambridge. It is responsible for commercialisation arrangements for University discoveries.
どちらかというと、こちらは大学内での発見や製品化を主体としています。
Hauser Forum
Hauser Forumは拠点の一つです。筆者が所属するキャベンディッシュ研究所から徒歩1分のところに位置しています。
The Laboratory attracts large numbers of the brightest young scientists from the UK and overseas at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Hauser Forumでは月に1回程度のペースでセミナーなどのイベントが開催されています。私も予定が合い次第参加しています。
1階のカフェにはスターバックスが入っており、ケンブリッジ大学のロゴが入ったタンブラーが買えます。お土産に人気です。
マクスウェルセンター
Maxwell Centre for the physical sciences — Winton Programme for the Physics of Sustainability
産学連携をより強化するために、特に物理科学系の分野での産学連携強化の目的で、マクスウェルセンターが現在建設中で、一部では利用が可能になりました。

本プログラムは、元々はMITのinnovation teamが題材となっているいます。
